500th mum enjoys Mater Mothers’ Bundle of Joy

Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane has reached a new milestone after welcoming its 500th family to the Bundle of Joy club.

Brisbane mum Sahar and her husband Mohammad are parents to two young boys Nima and Milan and are expecting a third bundle of joy, a little girl, in February 2024.

The expecting mum said she found out about Bundle of Joy via Mater Mothers’ website and knew the offer was a great saver for their family.

“When I added up all of the out-of-pocket expenses, it just made sense to buy the card!” Sahar said.

The Bundle of Joy card offers value for money to women giving birth at Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane by bundling together Mater services and other additional costs that parents can expect to pay.

Parents who purchase the card can save hundreds of dollars off a range of costs, including routine ultrasounds, routine blood tests, hospital car parking and meals for dad.

“I had already had my first routine ultrasound scan by the time I purchased my Bundle of Joy card, but I found there was still value in purchasing it,” Sahar said.

Kerri Gane, Mater Mothers’ Hospitals General Manager, said the Bundle of Joy card had been designed with Mater families in mind.

“Mater’s Bundle of Joy card helps parents to reduce some out-of-pocket costs associated with giving birth that are not necessarily covered by private health insurance or Medicare,” Kerri said.

“Every little bit helps when you are having a baby – and the savings we have bundled together for Mater parents are beneficial,” Kerri said.

By purchasing the $490 Bundle of Joy card, cardholders unlock access to:
  • Routine blood tests
  • Two routine ultrasounds
  • Hospital car parking for four consecutive days after the birth of baby
  • Partner meals for up to four days after the birth of baby
  • Cardholders also enjoy access to discounts on services such as parenting classes, breast pump hire, allied health services and special offers from Mater’s community partners.
Mater recommends women purchase the Bundle of Joy card prior to their first routine ultrasound at approximately 11 weeks into the pregnancy.
