What were our top baby names of 2020?

Last year Mater celebrated a significant new milestone, with one in five Queensland babies now born at a Mater Mothers’ Hospital.

This is the result of Mater maternity hospitals across South Brisbane, Redland, Townsville, Rockhampton and Mackay merging, welcoming a record 11 702 Mater little miracles throughout the year.

Boys slightly outnumbered girls again this year with 5 017 girls and 5 287 boys born, 362 sets of twins and 15 set of triplets! Our busiest day of the year was 1 September with 50 babies born—just three shy of our 2017 record.

In keeping with tradition for another year running the most popular baby names in Queensland remain to be Charlotte for girls and Oliver for boys.
