Miracle Max Club

Miracle Max Club

Miracle Max—a friend to all babies born and cared for at Mater—visits Mater Mothers’ Hospitals every Thursday afternoon to brighten the days of families and nurses in its Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU), and has already reached more than 950 families who have joined his new ‘Miracle Max Club’.

The club, an initiative of Mater Foundation in March this year, creates a life-long connection for new mothers who deliver their baby in Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane or have their baby cared for in our NCCU.

When Miracle Max walks through the door, you can see the faces of parents and older siblings light up. Some of these families visit NCCU daily for many months and with a single wave of his hand or a quick cuddle, Miracle Max makes them smile—this can make a huge difference to their day.

Every baby that joins the Miracle Max Club receives their own, free, special edition, Miracle Max plush toy as a keepsake of their time at Mater, and after going home, receives regular communication from Miracle Max himself, offering families with an opportunity to write a message of thanks to their Mater little miracle’s nurses and doctors.

One of the latest members to join the Miracle Max Club is NCCU baby Henry, whose parents Melissa and John said it was an emotional time being in hospital.

"The staff have been truly amazing throughout our whole ordeal in NCCU and with Henry now doing well we feel very lucky,” Melissa and John said.

"It’s lovely to meet Miracle Max - he put a smile on our faces!" they said.
