What to pack in your nappy bag

Are you unsure about what to pack for your baby when going out?

Here is a simple checklist of ‘must have’ items that you should include in your nappy bag.

As your baby grows and their needs change, you'll be able to adapt this list for their changing needs.

  • Nappies (the number depends how long you are going to be out, put in as many as you think you may need plus a couple of extras)
  • Baby wipes (either take a small travel pack or put some from a larger container into a snap lock bag to keep them moist)
  • Plastic bags for dirty nappies and/or clothes
  • Nappy balm (for your baby’s skin, if required)
  • Tissues (small pack)
  • Baby change mat (much nicer, and cleaner, for your baby to lie on during nappy changing)
  • Spare change of clothes (these are always necessary!)
  • Warm clothes—an extra top, socks and wrap
  • Muslin wrap (great for covering the pram while your baby is sleeping)
  • Sanitising hand gel (for cleaning your hands after changing nappies)
  • Hat (remember to remove this when your baby is sleeping)
  • Bib
  • Sunscreen (one that is suitable for babies)
  • A favourite toy or book
  • Water bottle and a snack for you: to keep your energy levels up
  • Phone
  • Keys
  • Purse
  • Sunglasses
  • Facewasher
  • Dummy/pacifier: only if required
