“Little angel” Mabel is a Father’s Day gift for Emerald dad Dean

Central Queensland dad of two Dean Single is looking forward to celebrating an unforgettable first Father’s Day with his “little angel” Mabel.

One of 44 babies born at Mater Mothers’ Private Hospital in January, baby Mabel arrived weighing 3.3kg.

Emerald couple Mr Single, 34, and his wife Belinda, 33, described their daughter’s arrival on 25 January as the “final piece to the puzzle”.

Mr Single said their son Kasper, 9, adored his baby sister and spends hours making her laugh.

“Kasper just loves her. Mabel thinks he’s just the funniest person,” said Mr Single, who works at a coal mine in Middlemount.

“There is quite a large age gap between the two kids, but it works well.

“Mabel is a little angel, I don’t remember things being this easy with Kasper! She’s a great baby and she sleeps well.”

Mr Single is looking forward to spending the day with his young family as he works a week-on week-off roster, driving more than an hour and a half to get to the rural mining town.
