Mater Mothers’ Hospital

If you are having your baby at Mater Mothers’ Hospital you can choose to purchase a package of parent education classes or attend an individual class. All classes are two hours long and are taught by a Mater Mothers’ registered midwife or nurse. Attendance will combine both face-to-face and virtual classes.

Valued at $480, pay only $215
All classes are offered either virtually or face-to-face.

Alternatively, you can choose to attend any individual class (perhaps as a refresher) for $135 per couple, per class.

Bookings—when and how

Our parent education classes are very popular so it’s important to book as early as possible, to avoid any disappointment. We recommend you book in for the classes before you are 16 weeks pregnant. 

To book in to our parent education classes, please phone Mater Mothers’ bookings team on 07 3163 8847. 

Payment is required at the time of your booking and you will receive a letter confirming the details of your booking and information about your class.

Mater Mothers' First Aid for Babies

We also offer Mater Mothers' First Aid for Babies classes in some locations, you can find more information and booking details here.

Physiotherapy

Every Tuesday afternoon at Mater Mothers' Hospital a drop-in clinic is also available to women looking for more information on post-birth recovery. Please contact Allied Health directly on 07 3163 6000 for more information.

TENS in labour

Supported by Mater's Health and Wellness Centre, the TENS in labour hire and information session is available for a fee. This session will teach you how to use the machine, helping to modify your pain perceptions in labour. The TENS in labour session is offered every Thursday at 1pm. Bookings are essential.
