Birthing in our Community launched at Mater

Mater launched Birthing in our Community – a new health care program which aims to ‘close the gap’ in maternal and infant health outcomes in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

The program was developed in collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and will offer specialist services, group antenatal care and direct access to health care workers.

Mater has partnered with the Institute of Urban Indigenous Health and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Health Service Brisbane to develop the program, which addresses cultural needs and provide Indigenous mums with more equitable health services.

For more information about the service contact 3163 1528.
