Thank a Mater Mothers ‘ nurse or midwife

This month we invite you to show your appreciation for Mater’s nurses and midwives in recognition of the dedication and care they provide every day.

Traditionally, we would come together as a community to celebrate International Midwives Day on 5 May and International Nurses Day on 12 May, but this year, due to social distancing requirements such gatherings are sadly not possible. So, we’ve come up with another way to celebrate the people who provide quality care and compassion to so many!

“Our nurses and midwives are at the heart of improving the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve and every one of us has a story to tell about how what they do has made a positive and powerful contribution to our lives or the lives of our loved ones,” Acting Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer Tracey Hutley said.

“This year has been a particularly challenging one for those in the healthcare frontline, so I know your messages will mean a lot,” Tracey added.

2020 has been declared the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife and is the bicentennial year of Florence Nightingale’s birthday.

In celebration we invite you, our Mater Mothers community, to take a moment to post a personal message of thanks  to our team of amazing nurses and midwifes.
