Mater Moments at Emporium welcomes 1000th family

For Jessica and Andrew, there is no hospital they trust more than Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane to welcome their babies into the world. In fact, in 2019 Jessica flew 16, 516 km from London to Brisbane at 35 weeks pregnant to deliver her second baby, Vincent. So, when they found out they were expecting a third time, the decision was an easy one. The option was only made sweeter by the opportunity to enjoy a two-night stay at Emporium Hotel South Bank as part of Mater’s Caring Continues offering.

Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane provides eligible families* with an opportunity to enjoy all of the creature comforts of a boutique hotel with a stay in a luxurious river view room, while having 24/7 access to a Mater midwife onsite.

“We love Mater Mothers, and the stay at the Emporium was just the cherry on top for us. With our second baby my preference was to head home from hospital early, to get home to our daughter, and we’d planned to do the same with our third. But by going to the Emporium we have been able to both enjoy time with Florence and still have our other children come visit,” Jessica said.

It wasn’t until Jessica and Andrew arrived at the Emporium, did the family find out they were our 1000th family to enjoy the luxury experience.

“We were very excited to be the 1000th family. Florence is so beautiful we thought it must have been meant to be. Our stay has been beyond what we could imagine, it’s such a treat. When we first got here Florence slept for five hours—I think she’s decided the lush life is for her,” Jessica said.

“While her older sister Lilly is so excited and just wants to stay close and hold Florence, we’ve enjoyed having the extra space at the Emporium for her brother Vincent. He has a lot of energy to burn and it was nice that Andrew was able to take Vinny up to the pool.”

“It’s also meant that Andrew and I have been able to have some time with just Florence which will be so hard to come by once we’re home. Florence has been such a delight and we are loving getting to know her in such a beautiful and calm environment.”

Mater Moments at Emporium Hotel also includes three room-service meals a day for mum that can be ordered at any time—unique to Mater guests—and are just a taste of the impeccable service families receive during their stay.

“The room itself has been absolutely amazing, we have been very impressed. The bed is so much more comfortable for Andrew and the bathrooms are so nice,” Jessica said.

“The food has been really great too, there is plenty of variety and options for the kids when they are here.

“The staff here have been so lovely, everyone has been so friendly, and they’ve just added to the experience.”

Families also have onsite access to a Mater midwife 24/7 to help with any questions.

“The midwives have been wonderful. They check in and let us know they’re available while still giving us privacy. Before we go home tomorrow it will be nice to have them weigh Florence and hopefully remove my sutures,” Jessica said.

“I would definitely recommend other families to stay at the Emporium, actually I already have! It’s such a nice time to be together and we have been able to spend time with Florence that we will never get again.”

“It’s truly a wonderful initiative and if we decide to have another baby we wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.”
