Tears of joy as Australian cricketer welcomes baby Lily

Australian cricketer Chris Lynn has been moved to tears following the birth of his daughter Lily Maree at Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane.

Lynn and partner Karlie welcomed their first child Lily on Thursday night, weighing 2.94 kg.

The Queensland couple have described their newborn as a “princess”.

“I bawled my eyes out when Lily was born, and to be honest I still am,” Lynn said.

“It’s tears of joy. Holding Lily for the first time has definitely got to be the most special moment of our lives.”

Lynn described Karlie as an “absolute trooper” following the arrival of baby Lily.

“I am so proud of her, she can’t get the smile off her face,” he said.

The proud dad, from Windsor, said he had “never felt better”.

“This is our first child and Lily is simply amazing, and her name Lily Maree Lynn has a beautiful ring to it.”

With one in five Queensland babies born at a Mater Mothers’ hospital, the couple said they were enjoying their time with Lily and looking forward to being a family of three at home.
