Welcome to Mater Mothers

We are committed to providing the very best maternity care, welcoming more than 12,000 babies into the world every year, and supporting families each step of the way.

Since 1960, Mater Mothers' Hospitals have been privileged to play a special role in many families' beautiful moments everyday, and we would love to be part of yours.

Mater Mothers is one of Australia’s largest and most experienced maternity service providers, with five leading private maternity hospitals across Queensland, including Mater Mothers’ Private BrisbaneMater Mothers’ Private Redland, Mater Mothers' Private Mackay, Mater Mothers' Private Rockhampton, and Mater Mothers' Private Townsville.

We also have a public maternity hospital in South Brisbane.

Are you expecting? Congratulations!

Having a baby is an exciting time and we want to ensure that your baby receives the best possible start in life—we’re here to support you through preconception, pregnancy, birth and early motherhood, making Mater Mothers the perfect place to start your journey.

The first step is to visit your GP for a check-up to confirm your pregnancy and request a referral to one of our maternity hospitals.

If you plan to have your baby at one of our private hospitals, you will need to ask your GP to refer you to a private obstetrician who practices at Mater. Prior to your GP visit, it is helpful for you to know which obstetrician you would like to manage your private maternity care.
