Pregnancy Assessment Centre now open

Pregnancy Assessment Centre now open

Mater Mothers’ Hospitals Pregnancy Assessment Centre (PAC) is now open to provide around the clock care for any woman with pregnancy related complications who needs help from day one of pregnancy until six weeks after birth.

In Australia, as many as one in four women expecting a baby experience complications early in their pregnancy—from 0 to 20 weeks gestation—including bleeding and other issues.

PAC brings together the services of the Pregnancy Assessment and Observation Unit (PAOU) and the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU) and extends the care offered in both these services to 24 hours a day.

PAC is adjacent to Birth Suite and provides 24 hours a day, seven days a week care and assessment for private and publicly-funded women experiencing complications at any stage of pregnancy and up to six weeks after the birth of the baby.

The unit, managed by Mater Midwives, arranges care in the same way as hospital emergency departments, by using a triage process to prioritise women according to their individual situation. Women have the ability to access the support of obstetric, medical and allied health professionals as required.

For urgent pregnancy related issues please present to the Pregnancy Assessment Centre 24 hours a day 7 days a week or call 13 HEALTH.
